We Lost (Video Transcript)

Hello, everybody! This is Jack from tofluency.com. I released a video recently where said – I feel fantastic today – today I don’t feel fantastic because I was up a lot during the night and I’ve been awake since 3 a.m. I also played football yesterday so I feel tired from that and yeah I don’t feel my best but I’m making a video anyway. It’s Monday morning about 11:30 a.m. I want to talk about sports today to give you some more listening practice and it will give you practice related to sports vocabulary. Now,

Now, I did make a live video recently on YouTube where I talked about the national game or the national sport, for example, the national sport of England is cricket – ignore my dog – the national sport of America is baseball – now, this doesn’t mean that these sports are the most popular sports in those countries but it’s just saying it’s the sport that’s most part of the culture – most embedded in the culture, however, the most popular sport in the UK is football. I grew up playing football, I grew up watching football I love it I’m always going to love it and when I moved to America, I was a little bit worried that there wouldn’t be anyone here who liked the game. But to my surprise, it is super popular

But to my surprise, it is super popular here, in fact, they have a very popular adult league; adult soccer league and I play in this league and last night, as I said, I played – we lost the semi-final we lost 2-1 but all is good because we went out to celebrate anyway after because it’s the end of the season. Now, I am now 33 and I’m not as quick as I was when I was 25/26 so it’s getting more difficult every year for me to play but I’m trying to get into training so that I get quicker; I get faster; and I get better at soccer because I want to enjoy it as much as I can.

But I’m so excited I was so excited when I found out that there was a league here and the standard is really high too. There are a lot of people who used to play college football – college soccer as they call it – and a lot of people, well, in fact we played against a professional player an ex-professional play yesterday, she was very
good, so yeah, it’s very very popular here – I love love playing. The problem is as I said I’m not as young as I used to be, so it’s getting more difficult and I feel really sore the days after – it takes me a long time to recover from the different games, so it can be very difficult for me to go to the gym on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday – my legs feel really really sore still.

What I want you to do is, for some writing practice in the comment section below, tell me what sport you currently play maybe you don’t play a small but tell me what sport you currently play and if you are good at it – if you are good at this sport. If you don’t play sport but you exercise, tell me what you do with that. I read every comment and I also make corrections to certain comments too so don’t be shy, leave a comment below and please share this video of anyone who would find it useful. Thank you guys for watching, see you next time!
