MAKE UP FOR: EXAMPLES

Make up for means to take the place of something lost or damaged or to compensate for something bad with something good (source).

In the video, I gave the example of how I forgot my wife’s birthday. I went out and bought her some expensive gifts to try and make up for it.

Here are more examples:

  • sales this month have made up for last month
  • I’m working extra hard to make up for the time I missed
  • the insurance money will never make up for it.
