Hello! This is Jack from tofluency.com. Welcome to this English lesson! Now, I am recording in Connecticut – I’m outside my mother-in-law’s house and this is a great time to film some videos. My wife and my son are at the farm; my mother-in-law has gone to the gym, so here I am on my own and I have found the time to make some videos for you. Now, this is related to what I’m going to teach you in this lesson because I set myself a challenge to make a video every single day for this channel – for you guys – and I have had many obstacles to overcome in this process. So, for example, my sister came to visit for a week, then my wife got sick, then we went traveling, and now I’m spending time with family. So, it’s been difficult to make these videos and to upload them, to do the transcripts and everything else I need to do. But I have stuck with it – I have managed to make a video every single day for nearly three months now.

Why is this important to you, though? It’s important because you can do this with your English learning.
You can set yourself a challenge – a daily challenge – and then build momentum with your English when you set yourself a daily challenge. It helps you overcome any obstacles you face. So, when you’re feeling tired, in the back of your mind, you’re thinking about this challenge and you do something in English anyway. When you’re really busy, in the back of your mind, you’re thinking about this challenge and you do something in English. It helps you to stop making the excuses we all make when we are faced with tough days; when it’s difficult to do something. Additionally, it helps you build momentum because once you do something in English, you’re more likely to do something else in English as well.

So, what I want you to do is to leave a comment and tell me what you’re going to commit to; what is your daily challenge going to be. It could be to read ten pages in English or to go through your digital flash cards or to listen to a podcast every day. Tell me what you are going to commit to and then keep me updated on your progress with this. If you have any questions, then please leave them below too. Thank you for watching and I’ll speak to you soon!
